about us

Offbeat -adj. 1 not coinciding with the beat. 2 eccentric, unconventional. -n any of the unaccented beats in a bar.

What are we?

Offbeat is Warwick University's Indie/Alternative music society. If you're a fan of indie, punk, new rave, electro, folk, hip-hop, post-rock or post-punk you should find yourself at home with us. The main impetus of the society is to allow indie/alt. kids to meet each other on campus - from experience we know how hard it can be to find people with similar interests.

What do we do?

We arrange socials which vary from pre-Electric City banter, gig trips (most recently Los Campesinos! and Misty’s Big Adventure) and a variety of our own discos and gigs in venues on campus and around Coventry and Leamington. We also sometimes team up with other societies at Warwick to jointly run nights such as the legendary Last Exit event at the Kasbah, which provides a fantastic alternative end-of-year bash for anyone who can't quite stomach the usual campus cheesefests!

Who are we?

Have a look on our forum or Facebook group and you'll find lots of people currently involved in the running of Offbeat. We're always available, and want to meet you. If you want (and are at Warwick) you can be on the exec, standing, ready and waiting with a bag full of posters and 7" singles. Just get in touch with us and get to know us and you're away! Interested in DJing? We can help you there too, If you’ve ever thought ‘I could do better...’ on a night out then now is your chance!

How can I get involved?

The most important thing about Offbeat is it’s your society. Local club nights are always a fantastic night out but you can’t turn up to DJ or make suggestions that will actually be acknowledged. If you’d like a theme disco (previously we’ve had Smiths/Morrissey and Radiohead nights that went down a storm) then pop over to our forum and let us know.
